Happy First of May Day!

I cannot believe it's May first already.  Time to think about planting flowers and celebrating Mother's Day.

Using papers from Gecko Galz’ May 2014 release and the vintagebyme digital paper from this month’s cross promotion, I made this card as my design team sample for our Gecko Galz May Customer Challenge—a Mother’s Day card.

This is my vintage version of the popular credit card commercial on television.  After "charging" several items to a credit card, the activity itself is said to be "priceless".  This vintage sales receipt indicates to me that even if mom purchases several items to keep her in style, she, herself, is priceless.

As a Gecko Galz customer, be sure to enter this month's (May) Mother's Day challenge.

Any Gecko Galz image, even a freebie, can be used to create your Mother's Day theme.  Details are on the Gecko Galz blog HERE.

My tutorial:

Using as a base a 5x6.5” ivory note card, I resized and printed my digital papers—printed sizes given here in inches:
Rose aria paper from Gecko Galz’s Floral Symphony digital paper pack
Gecko Galz’s Spring Beauties collage sheet: Woman cropped to 4x2.6”  then fussy cut
Sales receipt from this month’s cross promotion with VintageByMe digital sheets 2.75x4”
Type words on Trellis Tune paper from Floral Symphony digital paper pack
Crop paper to area where words are and print.  Cut into word strips.  Edge with black Sharpie broad tip pen.

Sponge brown ink onto edges of note card to give distressed look.

Adhere Art Nouveau Paper Whispers lace sticker to right side of rose paper.  Edge paper with pink and brown distress inks.  Adhere to card.

Wet distress woman image and sales receipt.  (Wet fingers with water and rub along edges of paper, crinkling and shaping paper as you go.  To speed drying process, use heat gun.)

Adhere with glue sales receipt to rose paper.  Place Prima Say It In Crystals pink pearl flourish on top.  Use glue and dimensional adhesive (pop dots) to adhere woman image on top.

Add seam binding bow, Maya Road flower pick, and paper roses.  I use Aleene’s fabric glue.  Cut glitter flower in two pieces and tuck under sales receipt.  Place Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dot on top of glitter flower in top left corner.  Adhere word strips.

Entering These Challenges:

Crafting At the Weekend  Challenge # 1 Anything Goes  (new challenge blog, runs monthly with challenge announced the last Saturday of each month)

Live and Love Crafts:  Challenge #23: Tinchy's Inspiration Collage (Pink)

It's All About the Vintage and the Beauty  Challenge #67 Flower Power

Sugar Creek Hollow:  Challenge #85 Tic Tac Toe
I went straight down the middle with lace (paper lace down right side), ribbon (pink seam binding bow under flower cluster) and pearls (flourish on top of sales receipt).

What a beautiful card Helene! The sentiment is so true. I try to be that kind of mom to my three daughters. The lovely Gecko Galz lass looks beautiful surrounded with pin pearls, flowers and lace.
