Garden of Wishes for 2021

I've signed up for the year long Wanderlust 2021 course from Everything Art.  This is class #2.  It is from Laly Mille which focuses on growth and gratitude. I did a two page journal spread.  In addition to the overall paper collage technique, she demonstrated how to paint the white flowers.  Underneath the paper collage, I've written my intentions for 2021.  The acrylic paint flowers with paper centers represent my garden of  wishes. I made it my own by feathering the flowers and adding pink and blue flowers in a different style. My garden could not be complete without a fairy and a butterfly.

I shared this with

Gecko Galz Papercrafting Facebook group where one of January's prompts is to make your own flowers.  The Gecko Galz images are from Pixie Chicks digital stamps and Butterfly Wings collage sheet.  WINNER!!!

Longing for Family and Travel in 2021

Happy 2021 New Year!  I'm delighted to put 2020 behind me.  The year started out great with many wonderful moments and adventures, but I've been shut at home since mid-March.  I'm looking forward to a brighter 2021.

The January prompt at Art Journal Journey is My Favourite Things.

Family, traveling, and art are among my favorite things which I combined into this two page art journal spread. I hope to get back to doing those things in 2021--a new beginning after COVID is under control. And hope springs eternal that I will get to England some day to see where my parents were married.

Inspiration for the layering is from Mary Beth Shaw of Stencilgirl Products who offers " art along" sessions on her FaceBook page which are taped and can be done at any time.  You may recognize some Tim Holtz products--tissue paper, stencil, washi tape and paper dolls. I layered in some drywall tape, old sheet music, and a cut up Basic Grey scrapbook paper.  Waves across the ocean are a STAMPlorations ARTplorations FOILED stencil.

My hope is to travel and to hug family again.  I took inspiration from 1) the texture of the elephant skin and patterns in the other pictures by using drywall tape and 2) from the sky--thinking of crossing the ocean to England.  I used the last 3 colors (no lilac).
