There's Coffee in the House!

Happy National Coffee Day September 29!

This shadow box represents in miniature the items that I remember in my grandmother's home.

I should note that I took the photo at an angle so that you wouldn't see my reflection in the mirror which I made with a bottle cap frame.

Because I want to enter this in the Prima September contest HERE, (I'm #19)  I'm giving you a sneak peak of my project which will be the focus of my article on October 3 at Unruly Paper Arts blogozine.  The article will include a brief family history of each item.  At that time, I will have a companion post here on my blog with photos of the actual items that now reside in my home.

Prima resins furnished the house.  Because my grandma's furniture was white, I didn't alter the color but I did stain the wood trim.

I'm also entering this room photo in the Coffee Lovers Fall Blog Hop HERE. I'm #372
The coffee cup represents my grandma's china which I now possess as seen in the photo below. Coffee was very important to my mother.  She said when sugar was rationed, she got used to drinking coffee without it, but she could never give up her cream! I drink my coffee black but it must be flavored!

Please come back in October to learn more!!!!

Here are the Prima products I used:

Altered Doll House
910891
Ingvild Bolme Foyer Resins and Antique Tub

Update 10/20/15.  I didn't win the Prima contest, but my house was a featured entry in the Prima winners article HERE

Digital Bookmark

My second entry for the Fall 2015 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

Totally digital, which can be printed out and used as a tag or bookmark.  I will be placing it on a fold-over flap in my coffee journal.

I used the freebie coffee to go cup image from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons and the freebie quote "Coffee, a Hug in a Mug" from TLC Creations.  Both are available when you hop on over to their sites.  The original witch image was holding a purple flower.  I replaced the flower with a Hero Arts coffee cup and put a spider ring on her hand.

Good-bye Summer

Although warmer temps are trying to surface, you can tell the seasons are in transition.  The plants are showing signs of fall.  And crafting is turning to Halloween and autumn leaves.  Here is a 6x9 scrapbook page I made as a last hurrah to summer which officially will be over in three days.  The page will be added to my grandkids' album, opposite from a page of summer photos.

I took images from the Crafty Secrets See You Soon digital kit and colored them with my software program. I placed in the lower corner of the scene "see you soon" from the kit.  After printing, I added final touches with Copic markers (including autumn leaves).
The sentiment "Good-bye Summer!" was computer generated and punched with a Stampin' Up label punch.

I chose a dress color and cardstock to give an autumn feel.  Patterned paper is Basic Grey Ambrosia--very old from my stash.  The flowers represent the warm summer sun.  Materials are old, from my stash (paper, gems, ribbon, Maya Road  Winter Jewel Flowers).  Lovin' that I'm using them up.

Twinkle Journal Page

Finally, I sat down and made something!  I came up with an idea for a journal page.  The grandkids and I sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star which I thought would be the perfect way to complete this gelli print that I made during Summer of Color.

The original 8x8 inch print is HERE.

The original list of supplies included paint in two blues and a green on the gelli plate.  I used Tim Hotlz' globe die as a stencil.  Then I added white paint through a star stencil.

To create my journal page, I added the following:

Luna Girl Moonbeams digital image of girl and wings from their Shabby Green collage sheet.
Red Lead stencil of words from which I combined letters to create the word twinkle.
Computer generated word labels  Ranger Distress Inks were used on these items.
STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge stamp set--double arrow which I stamped in-between the word labels with Brilliance Moonlight White ink so that there would be a subtle sense of movement .  I went over the ink with a Sakura Gelly Roll clear star pen . I also used this pen to highlight the the word Twinkle.

I'd like to enter my journal page in these challenges:

September Coffee

For the month of September, Unruly PaperArts Blogozine has a great theme for the Reader Art Quest.  The prize (winner chosen by random draw) is two stamp sets from UPA sponsor Altered Pages.

If you follow my blog, then you know I belong to the Coffee Loving Papercrafters group and have lots of coffee themed items to work with.  (This group is having a link-up blog hop at the end of the month with lots of sponsor prizes.)  So of course I jumped at the chance to make an inspiration piece for this RAQ.  Although you may choose only to use the color scheme in your make, I had to go with a coffee theme!!!!  And what's better than a warm cup of coffee as the weather is turning to chilly autumn days??? Although I love my coffee any time of year!

This is a digital hybrid.

All of the heart papers and the dot paper for the cups are from My Artistic Adventures Etsy shop.  As you can tell, I joined two patterns together before printing out the background.  I used two more patterns when making the coffee cups, by placing the ping files from Hero Arts Caffeine Fix digital set on top of the patterned papers, printing, and layering.

Sentiment is printed, edged with black marker, and built up with foam adhesive.

Steam is from Paper Smooches stamp set.
Coffee word is A Cut Above die from Verve stamps.`
Baker's twine is Stampin' Up
Misc. letters and heart trim from stash

I'd like to enter this in these challenges: x
