VALENTINE JUNK JOURNAL

This is my first attempt at an actual junk journal, where pages and materials are various sizes and textures and are built atop each other.  I needed a home for all of my Valentine related items.  I used 2 inch black zinc shower rings that I found on Amazon.

A few of my makes are as much as 13 years old, but almost all are brand new, including the actual journal assemblage, for the Gecko Galz winter quarterly junk journal challenge HERE.  I'm entry #7

Other new items are for various challenges as listed. Many materials are vintage ephemera such as old Valentines.

My color palette is red, pink, and turquoise, with white, beige, brown, and black.

The cover is a tag using Gecko Galz images that I made years ago.  I placed it on a new stenciled background and added a strip of antique lace.

Here are the junk journal  back page and "junky" side views.

Coffee cup sleeve and my Gecko Galz ATC/calling card

I tried to do a flip through video but my files were too big!  So I clipped the video into still shots.  (Hopefully at some point, I'll learn how to post a video.)  Had I known this would happen, I would have taken the stills without my hand in the way, but most pages are also shown individually down below. Purpose of the flip through is to show how I assembled my junk journal.

Since this primarily was a Gecko Galz junk journal challenge, here are my pages using Gecko Galz images:

Items using the Gecko Galz Rouge  Collage set (and one image from freebie February 2018 collage sheet):

ATC Set using Heart Strings ATC Set and various children images from other sheets.  Glassine envelope has Heather Hudson image. ATCs kept inside envelope.

Using Abandon Hearts ATC Set (February 2023 freebie on blog)

Here is a journal page that combined new with an old card I made for Red Lead which is on the back of the journal page.  Everything else is new:

Here is a gold page to display a beautiful antique Valentine given to my aunt by her daughter years ago and to hold a Tim Holtz tutorial tag I made eons ago:

And here is a Jane Davenport starter journal page which I stenciled and added text and embellishments:

Here are two new makes using a couple new techniques for me, an Iris Fold heart and a torn paper collage house.

This is a gelli plate print onto which I placed an old make adhered to a pocket card, (that's a gelli print image of a white doily, not an actual doily glued on):

And finally, here are the old makes that I included:
Old Red Lead Paperworks design on Jenni Bowlin bingo card, using antique Valentine and Stampin' Up stamp.  Old card--not sure whose image-made new back for journal; Old Tim Holtz tutorial tag using dies and washi tape.
Old My Artistic Adventures make for Heather Hudson (at one point she designed for Gecko Galz), Old Gecko Galz make that includes Tim Holtz die cut Umbrella Man.
Old Queen Kat stamps card but added new foil hearts cut from a heart shaped pizza tin, placed on new Stencil Girl background.  Old Tim Holtz tutorial tag.

Your Irish Fun Fold is so pretty and such a complement to your Journal. I have only made one Irish Fold and have several patterns, you have inspired me to pull them out and see what I can do for a future card. And WOW your journal is very impressive and full of embellishments... beautifully done. Thanks for sharing your new embellishment Irish Fun Fold with us at Double Trouble and Creative Creases.
